Step-by-step guides

How to Translate Videos

How do I translate a YouTube video to English?

Two ways. (1) Browser extension: install the VinnerVi extension, open the YouTube video, click the extension icon, and pick English as the target language — translated subtitles overlay the YouTube player. (2) URL workflow: paste the YouTube URL at vinnervi.com/subtitles, pick English and a subtitle format (SRT/VTT/ASS/TXT), and download the finished file in 1–10 minutes. Subtitle mode costs 1 credit/min when YouTube has captions; audio transcription is 3 credits/min when it doesn't.

How do I translate a Bilibili video without a VPN?

VinnerVi accesses Bilibili through its own backend, so any public Bilibili video translates from anywhere in the world — no VPN, no Chinese phone number, no bilibili.com account, no API key. Use the browser extension for live overlay on the Bilibili player, or paste the URL (bilibili.com or bilibili.tv) at vinnervi.com/subtitles for a downloadable SRT/VTT/ASS file. See the full Bilibili guide.

How do I translate TikTok videos into my language?

On the TikTok web player (tiktok.com), the browser extension overlays translated subtitles directly on the video. For the mobile app or to repost translated clips, paste the TikTok URL at vinnervi.com/subtitles. Most TikTok clips cost less than 1 credit because they're short. Douyin (douyin.com) is also supported.

How do I download subtitles from a Vimeo video?

Paste any public Vimeo URL at vinnervi.com/subtitles, pick a target language and subtitle format (SRT/VTT/ASS/TXT), and download the finished file in 1–10 minutes. Private and password-protected Vimeo videos are not supported. Vimeo embeds on third-party sites are detected by the browser extension.

How do I get English subtitles on Niconico videos?

Install the VinnerVi browser extension and open any public Niconico video — translated subtitles appear on the Niconico player. Or paste the nicovideo.jp URL at vinnervi.com/subtitles for a downloadable file. No Japanese account or premium subscription required. See the full Niconico guide.

How do I batch translate a YouTube playlist or Bilibili series?

The browser extension's batch mode translates an entire YouTube playlist, Bilibili multi-part series, or other collection in one click. A 12-episode Korean drama or a 30-video tutorial channel becomes one workflow instead of thirty. Failed jobs in a batch refund individually.

How do I use translated SRT files in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve?

Download the SRT file from your VinnerVi Jobs tab (or the email link), then drag it onto the timeline in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or import it into VLC, mpv, or YouTube Studio. SRT is the universal format — every major editor and player accepts it.

What VinnerVi Can and Can't Do

Can VinnerVi translate Netflix, Disney+, or HBO videos?

No. Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, and similar DRM-protected streaming services prevent extensions from accessing their video or subtitle data. VinnerVi focuses on the open web — YouTube, Bilibili, TikTok, X (Twitter), Vimeo, Dailymotion, Niconico, and 50+ more sites where the content is publicly accessible.

Can I translate videos without creating an account?

A free VinnerVi account is required so we can track your 50 free starter credits. You can sign in with Google or with email/password. No credit card and no subscription needed to start.

Can VinnerVi translate Korean drama YouTube channels?

Yes — Korean is one of the best-supported source languages, and the AI was tuned for natural conversational Korean. Use the browser extension's batch mode to translate an entire K-drama channel or playlist in one click.

Can VinnerVi translate anime videos?

Yes, on platforms VinnerVi supports — YouTube, Bilibili, X (Twitter), Niconico, Vimeo, Dailymotion. Japanese-source content is well-supported. Translation works on the audio track; subtitles that are burned into the video image (hard-coded) cannot be re-translated.

Can I get plain text transcripts instead of subtitles?

Yes. Pick TXT as the output format. You'll get a plain transcript without timestamps — ideal for reading, language study, research analysis, or feeding into another tool.

Does VinnerVi work on X (Twitter) videos?

Yes. Both x.com and twitter.com URLs are supported by the browser extension and the URL workflow. Recorded videos, including livestream replays, work. Live X Spaces audio is not supported — only finished video recordings. X Premium is not required. See the full X (Twitter) guide.

Formats, Tools, and Pricing

What's the difference between SRT, VTT, and ASS subtitle formats?

SRT is the universal format — every editor and player accepts it. VTT is the web-native variant used by YouTube Studio, podcast platforms, and HTML5 video. ASS supports styled subtitles with fonts, positioning, and karaoke effects — useful for anime fan-subs. TXT is the plain-text transcript with no timestamps, for reading-only use. All four are generated from the same translation in one job, so you can switch formats without re-running.

Is there a free subtitle translator?

VinnerVi includes 50 free credits with every new account — roughly 17 minutes of audio-mode video or 50 minutes of subtitle-mode video. No credit card required for the free credits. After that, the lowest-cost top-up is $5 for 900 credits with no expiration. See full pricing.

Does VinnerVi require a Chrome account or Google sign-in?

No Chrome account or Google account required. You can sign in to VinnerVi with Google OR with a regular email and password. The browser extension works on Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium browsers regardless of how you sign in.

Video Compatibility

Which videos are supported?

VinnerVi works on YouTube, Bilibili, X (Twitter), TikTok, Dailymotion, Niconico, and any site with a standard HTML5 video player. The video must be publicly accessible and have audio available for download.

Why did my video fail to process? Common

Some videos cannot be processed due to restrictions set by YouTube or the uploader. Here are the most common reasons:

Will I be charged for a failed video?

No. If we cannot download or process the audio, your credits are automatically refunded. You will only be charged for successfully completed translations.

A video fails but I can watch it normally on YouTube. Why?

YouTube treats browser playback and programmatic downloads differently. Even if you can watch a video in your browser, our download system may be blocked by YouTube's anti-bot protections. This is most common with age-restricted content and some geo-restricted videos. We are continuously working to improve compatibility.

Why did "Subtitle Translation" mode fail even though the video has subtitles? Occasional

Video platforms like YouTube regularly update their systems to prevent automated access to subtitle data. VinnerVi uses multiple methods to retrieve subtitles on your behalf — including reading them directly from the page you're watching and, when that isn't possible, downloading them through our servers.

Occasionally, platform changes may temporarily affect our ability to access certain subtitle tracks. When this happens, your credits are automatically refunded. Our team actively monitors these changes and updates VinnerVi to restore compatibility, typically within a few days.

If you encounter this issue, you can try switching to Full Audio Translation mode as a reliable alternative. It transcribes the audio directly and is not affected by subtitle access restrictions.

How does VinnerVi access video and subtitle data?

VinnerVi only accesses publicly available data from the video page you are watching. We do not bypass any login requirements, paywalls, or access controls. Our extension reads subtitle information that the video platform already provides to your browser, and we use standard download methods on our servers as a fallback.

Platform providers frequently update their technical protections, and we work continuously to keep VinnerVi compatible within the boundaries of what is publicly accessible. While we cannot guarantee 100% availability for every video at all times, we are committed to maintaining broad compatibility and resolving issues quickly when they arise.

Translation Quality

How accurate are the translations?

VinnerVi uses state-of-the-art large language models (LLMs) for both transcription and translation. In most cases, the output is highly accurate and natural-sounding — often comparable to professional human translation for everyday content.

That said, AI-generated translations can occasionally produce errors such as mistranslations, awkward phrasing, or hallucinated content (words or sentences not present in the original). This is an inherent characteristic of current AI technology, not a bug. We continuously refine our pipeline to minimize these issues, but they cannot be fully eliminated.

Translations work best with clear speech, common languages, and straightforward content. Accuracy may vary with heavy accents, overlapping speakers, domain-specific jargon, or rare language pairs. We recommend treating VinnerVi subtitles as a helpful aid for understanding foreign-language videos rather than a certified translation.

I found a translation error. Can I get a refund?

Because AI translation quality can vary by content, we do not offer refunds for stylistic or accuracy differences. Credits are only refunded when a job fails entirely (e.g. download error, processing crash). We encourage you to try the free trial credits first to see if the quality meets your needs before purchasing.

Credits & Billing

How are credits calculated?

Credits are based on video duration. Audio mode costs 3 credits per minute — used when VinnerVi transcribes audio first. Subtitle track mode costs only 1 credit per minute — used when the video already has subtitles to translate.

What happens if processing fails mid-way?

Your credits are automatically refunded if any step of the pipeline fails. This includes download failures, transcription errors, and translation issues.

Troubleshooting

Why am I seeing "This video has failed X times"? Occasional

To protect our servers and prevent unnecessary resource usage, each video URL is limited to 5 failed attempts per hour per translation mode (Full Audio Translation or Subtitle Translation). This limit is shared across all users. If a video fails 5 times using a particular mode within that window, further attempts with that mode are temporarily blocked until the window resets.

All credits from failed attempts are automatically refunded. This limit exists because some videos simply cannot be processed (age-restricted, geo-blocked, etc.), and repeated retries would waste server resources without a different outcome.

If one mode is blocked, you can try the other. If you believe the video should work, please wait an hour and try again, or contact us at support@vinnervi.com with the video URL.

Why am I getting "Too Many Requests" errors? Occasional

Video platforms like YouTube limit how frequently subtitles can be downloaded from the same server. If you submit the same video multiple times in quick succession, our servers may be temporarily blocked from accessing that video's subtitles.

Your credits are automatically refunded when this happens. Wait a few minutes before retrying — frequent attempts can extend the temporary block. If the issue persists, try switching to Full Audio Translation mode, which is not affected by subtitle rate limits.

The extension shows "Processing failed" — what should I do?

First, check the error message shown in the popup — it will tell you the specific reason. If the video is age-restricted or private, there's nothing we can do. For other errors, try refreshing the page and submitting again. If the problem persists, contact us at support@vinnervi.com.

Can I request support for a specific video?

Yes! If you believe a video should work but doesn't, email us at support@vinnervi.com with the video URL and the error message. We'll investigate and let you know.
